Our History
In 2005, the Baptist Bible Mission of Tanzania was connected with Herb Rawlings and began looking
for property in Tanzania for a camp facility. Bob Dodson was then tasked by the mission to run the camp. By 2007 the land had been purchased and the facilities built for Highlands Tanzania. Now, schools from all around the country bus students to Highlands Tanzania for 3 day camps all throughout the year.

Meet the Camp Director
Bob and his wife Dee have been serving at Highlands Tanzania since the beginning. They were leading a church in Kilamanjaro that they had planted and left from there to come and start Highlands Tanzania. Early on in 2005 Bob and other missionaries in the BBMT spent their time looking over properties and negotiating what would be best for the
camp. They spent the next 5 years preparing and praying through what God would do in Tanzania. In June 2010, when the camp opened Bob and Dee brought in their first group of campers and over the last 10 years they have had 164,161 campers come through Highlands Tanzania.
Testimonial
Several years ago, a group of kids from an orphanage came to Highlands Tanzania Camp, there was one camper who was a last second addition to camp. He had a rough life so far and had lived on the streets. While at camp, he accepted Christ and became involved in a local church and was baptized. The next year he came back and volunteered at camp. Once turning 18 he got kicked out of the orphanage and came to Highlands Tanzania asking if he could work at the camp. He did and not long after he joined the pastor training courses and now he is one of the speakers at the camp sharing to students just like him.
